In this year’s Graduation Day ceremony we celebrated the PhD students who successfully finished their thesis in the course of the previous year. In the festive hall of the TU Dresden’s Dülferbau, the DIPP graduates received a certificate along with a small present. Speeches of both the DIGS-BB and the IMPRS deans Prof. Gerhard Rödel and Prof. Wieland Huttner officially released the attendant students into the world. This year’s Commencement Speech was given by Dr. Ivan Baines, head of administration of the MPI-CBG whose humorous discourse meant to open the graduates’ mind towards the possibilities of a postdoc life. Their career path might continue in science – but likewise it could lead them somewhere totally different.
The celebration was accompanied by the music duo Kaloabo (saxophone and piano) who played some well-known pop songs in between the speeches. A casual get-together with drinks and finger food concluded a wonderful evening.
