Funding & Tuition
In general, the DIGS-BB offers financial support for the duration of thesis, which is up to a maximum of 4 years. Financial support is granted via working contracts according to 50–65 % TvöD E13 (German tariff for employees in civil service). Contracts are taxed, and contributions to health insurance, pension scheme and social benefits are included. The initial net income (after deduction of tax and contribution to compulsory health and social insurances) is 1,450 Euro per month at a minimum.
There are neither tuition fees for participating in the PhD Program nor for being registered as PhD student at the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD). Official enrolment at the TUD as students is optional; the biannual enrolment fee at the TUD is about 260 Euro and includes the so-called Semesterticket, which entitles to use the public transport system in Dresden and surroundings.
