There are numerous activities on campus beyond science. Among these are sporting activities, classical and modern concerts, film festivals and social gatherings. Sporting activities held on a regular basis include soccer, basketball, volleyball and ultimate Frisbee. The sporting highlight of the year is the "Biolympics", which is organized each summer.

Science and Society

Students may also participate in the Forum on Science and Society. The Dresden Forum on Science and Society was established to foster an informed and multidisciplinary discussion of the social, economic, and political impact of modern life sciences. The main goals are to encourage dialogue between scientists and the lay public; raise awareness among scientists of the impact of scientific research on our society; and to analyze and evaluate the many ways in which scientific discoveries and the social environment influence each other.
