Matriculation

The formalities for matriculation will be initiated upon arrival in Dresden with support of the PhD Program Office.

For matriculation at the TUD, the following documents must be provided:

  • Officially authenticated copy of higher education entrance certificate, complete with a list of grades (e.g. Abitur, A- and O-levels, baccalaureate, Lise Diplomasi, Apolyterion, Matura, high school diploma etc.)
  • Officially authenticated copy of University diploma including all subject areas and grades
  • Students who were enrolled at another German university prior enrolment at TUD need to provide a confirmation of “Exmatrikulation”
  • Curriculum vitae (resume).

For certificates issued in a language other than German, English, French, Spanish, or Italian, officially authenticated translations thereof are needed in addition.

Application for matriculation

The application consists of

  • the application for PhD studies (Antrag auf Promotionsstudium) including the signature of a responsible University professor (a member of the Thesis Advisory Committee), and
  • the application form for matriculation  (Antrag auf Immatrikulation).

The PhD Program Office will provide support in completing the forms and submit the application together with the required documents to the responsible department at the TUD.

Admission

Applicants will be informed about admission as PhD student directly.

The following documents need to be presented at the responsible department at TUD for finalizing the matriculation procedure:

  • Your passport
  • The original documents of your University degree (e.g. BSc, MSc, Diploma) including all subject areas and grades
  • Proof of your German Health Insurance
  • Proof that you paid the enrolment fee (Semesterbeitrag)

Enrolment fee (Semesterbeitrag)

The enrolment fee (approximately 140 Euro) has to be paid for each term, and includes the "Semesterticket" (granting free use of the public transport system), and the fees for the Studentenwerk and the Studentenrat.

Re-matriculation (Rückmeldung)

Enrolment at German universities is valid for one semester only, and it is required to re-matriculate for each term. Re-matriculation is ensured by paying the enrolment fee for the up-coming term in time. The actual fee for the upcoming semester is announced shortly prior to the re-matriculation period here.
